Admission to Ph.D. Programme 2024

Applications are invited from candidates for admission to the ICGEB-JNU Ph.D. Programme-2024 in the following streams.

I.   Molecular Medicine

(Structural Parasitology, Membrane Protein Biology, Vector Borne Diseases, Immunobiology, Parasite Cell Biology)

II.  Plant Biology 

(Plant Microbe Interaction, Plant Stress Biology, Nutritional Improvement of Crops, Plant Transcription Regulation, Metabolic Engineering)

III. Integrative Biology

(Yeast Biofuel, Transcription Regulation, Systems Biology for Biofuel)

Minimum qualification:

(A) First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics etc) or M.Tech or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.

(B) The applicant should have cleared any one of the following examinations: CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (I), BINC, DST-INSPIRE or any other equivalent JRF examination (Copy of the award letter needs to be attached). The fellowship must be valid for at least four years.  GATE and DBT(II) are not accepted.

It is mandatory to possess minimum qualifications to fill the form for admission to ICGEB-JNU Ph.D. programme. Despite this caution, in case you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria and still appear in the written exam/ interview, you will do so at your own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that you do not fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements, the admission, if granted to you, shall be cancelled.

Application procedure:

(A) Applications MUST be filled out online (click the link at the bottom). One student is allowed to fill out only one application form. In case of multiple applications by one student, his/her all applications will be liable for cancellation.

While making payment:

· For UPI Mode: write down your UPI handle in remarks.

· For IMPS: write down your mobile number in remarks

· For NEFT: write your name in the remarks section, so that your payment is properly traced to your form.

(C) Scan recent colour passport size photo. Size of photo should be less than 2 MB.

(D) Scan the fellowship award letter. Size of scan copy should be less than 1 MB.

(E) Scan the caste certificate, if any. Size of scan copy should be less than 1 MB.

(F) Save the online receipt generated after the successful online submission. This is your admit card. You must bring your Admit card along with one identity proof (Preferably your Aadhar card) and a copy of the valid fellowship award letter to appear in the written exam and / or interview to be held on December 11^th-12^th, 2023.

(G) The admit card will be submitted at ICGEB. You may keep a copy of the admit card with you for future reference.

(H) Forms can be submitted till November 25, 2023. The last date for submission is extended to 30th November 2023
